Recently I ordered a MSI SS-200 Sturdy-Step Safety Platform from Amazon.com. When I opened the box the main plate/step of the platform was splattered with a teal blue chemical/dye/ooze. There was none on the outside of the box nor on any of the other parts. In addition to being all over the step it has also soaked into the safety strip on the front of the step.



After two hours of picking that strip off, washing the whole plate down with hot soapy water and a lot of elbow grease and cursing I'd just about given up on trying to get the blue ooze off the plate. Yet, if I rubbed my hand on the ooze it would come off on my hand so I knew if I didn't get it off the plate it would get all over our shoes and then all over everything else.



Lastly I tried Goo-Gone in an attempt to not only get the blue chemical off the step but to also get the last bits of adhesive off the step from the safety strip. That finally worked. Then I had to wash the whole thing down with soapy water to get the Goo Gone off.



The whole time I kept thinking, `The person who packed this box at the factory had to have seen this mess yet they packed it up anyway. Who cares? The poor sap that buys it will get stuck with this mess. Why should the packer at the factory care?'



Well I was that poor sap and I spent over 2 hours scrubbing, rinsing and sweating to get that mess cleaned off. I paid $113.56 for the Safety Platform plus 4 spring loaded casters (which showed up several days later in a separate package). What I got was a huge pain in the neck.



When I contacted the Manufacturer I received a very bland one sentence `we'll contact Amazon to see what the problem was' even though I'd gone to great lengths to explain the problem clearly originated with the manufacturer.



Once I got the whole mess cleaned up the stool, along with the spring loaded casters, worked great. The caster's hardware package was missing a bolt but luckily I was able to find one in my work area that fit. It seems to be how this manufacturer is. Close but no cigar.



It's tremendously heavy so it appears to be very sturdy. I've given it a middle range rating. The initial assembly was such a pain in the neck it rendered the overall quality of the product downward.

You will certainly feel very secure using this as a step stool at home. If you have kids that want to help with cooking or washing dishes, you won't worry that the stool with topple with them on it. If you have an elderly family member who insists on doing too much, this will keep them steady as they reach to put the clean dishes in the cupboards. With strength and stability comes a price. This thing is HEAVY!! There are optional wheels for it that I think I will order next. AMAZON sells this item for nearly half the price of other internet sources. RECOMMEND!
